The door assembly will be attached to a 3,200-square-foot pre-engineered building that the Seabees are constructing for Naval Beach Unit 7. NMCB 4 is forward-deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific region ready to support major combat operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief and to provide general engineering and civil support to U.S. and joint forces. SASEBO, Japan – U.S. Navy Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4, are constructing two Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEBs) to assist Naval Beach Unit (NBU) 7 in ongoing operations on Yokose Naval Base, Japan. The two PEBs provide vehicle storage and maintenance areas away from the elements. NMCB 4 began construction on Jan. 25 and is scheduled to be completed in July, prior to the arrival of NMCB 5 for turnover. “This project gives us the opportunity to build partnerships with NBU 7 and provide them with a valuable building they can continue to work in more efficiently,” said Steelworker 3rd Class Christion Kirkley. The construction process and continued project site includes concrete demolition, installation of vertical wall panels, and the installation of overhead doors to fully weatherize the interior of the building. In the future, plans include demolishing existing concrete and replacing it with ramps as you enter and exit the PEBs. Once complete, this project will help satisfy expeditionary needs across NBU-7. “The work my crew has done impresses me every day. I go out to the project site and I am immensely proud of them,” said Builder 1st Class Saul HernandezDuran, project supervisor. NMCB 4 is a forward deployed Pacific force ready to support major combat operations and humanitarian assistance/ disaster relief operations and to provide general engineering and civil support to the Navy, Marine Corps and joint operational forces. Homeported out of Port Hueneme, California, NMCB 4 has detachment sites deployed throughout the United States and Pacific area of operations.
